mythoughts68:

gorgeous face -speechless

There’s so much to like about this scene besides the obvious and the fact that Eric’s true nature is reflected. I also like that Dream Eric seems to understand Dream Sookie. He knows there’s more to her than the seemingly naive Southern Bell. His comment about how ruthless she is when it comes to people she loves connects with the deep loyalty he feels for those he loves. She jests about being high maintenance and old as dirt, but he’s spot on about being blood thirsty. He knows she’s capable of that, and we’ve seen it when she poured Talbot down the drain and how she relished Russell’s anguish. We saw it with Debbie, too.  Both instances were completely understandable, but it shows that when pushed, Sookie is capable of being a little blood thirsty.

I also like that Eric sees beyond “the darling”, and I get the sense that he’s in the minority. Her friends, Jason, and Bill have their idea of her, but I don’t think they really know her….Bill definitely doesn’t know her. I think they see what they want to see and, in their minds, they force her into their vision of who they think she should be.

And, even though it’s a dream, we see in hindsight how reflective it is of the real Eric and Sookie….that they share a freedom to be who they really are.  And how wonderful that we get to see some of this play out in reality in Season 4. :)

Now, to the other question. I know there’s been talk about shared dreams and the impetus for the dreams, but I wonder if Sookie wants someone to really see her, to understand her, to know her. With the difficult life she’s lead, she’s had to withhold a lot of herself.  She’s different and she was alone in that difference until the vampires came out. Even with Tara as a friend, it must have been a terribly lonely existence, always hiding who she is, always putting on the sweet smile, in spite of everything she ‘heard’.

We’ve been told that the owner of the vampire blood has some influence of the direction of the ‘high’. So it follows that Eric’s blood reveals some of his true self and in that allows Sookie to reveal her true self. As Lafayette said, “you take in piece of the vampire it came from. The trick is you have to let it take you deep…follow it…soak it in”. We know there’s something about Eric’s blood that allows her freedom, which is very different from Bill’s blood.  And, it translates into their non-dream interactions, with Eric enjoying her fire, the real her and Bill always shushing, always telling her how she should be.

Wow..sorry, went all over the place. :)
